Core Mechanics, Systems, and Rules:
As a city-building resource management simulation game, Green City challenges players to create a beautiful and populous city while managing pollution and maintaining sustainable growth. The central mechanic and objective of the game is balancing CO2 emissions and energy production, ensuring a clear and concise focus on the game's "green" message.
The metrics at the top right corner indicate whether co2 and money are gonna go up or down by the end of the day. The earliest prototype of “Green City” already had the basic principle of the game.

These core metrics are impacted by various in-game elements:
- Elements impacting the number of citizens:
- Houses: Building houses increases the number of citizens living in them.
- Energy production: Insufficient energy production leads to people leaving their homes, reducing the number of citizens, whereas adequate energy production allows citizens to continue living in their homes.
- Elements impacting Money:
- All structures cost money to build
- Power plants: Money is generated when energy production exceeds the amount needed.
- Houses: Maintaining them costs money.
- Trees: Planting trees costs money.
- Elements impacting CO2:
- Houses: Houses increase CO2 emissions, except for advanced eco-friendly houses.
- Power plants: Power plants produce CO2 emissions, with the exception of renewable energy sources.
- Trees: Planting trees reduces CO2 emissions.

- Number of inhabitants: As the population grows, the demand for energy increases.
- Elements impacting energy provided:
- Power plants: Different power plants provide varying amounts of energy, with renewable sources offering a more sustainable option.
