One “Big” Level

The game follows a format similar to most city builder games, in which there aren't distinct "levels" but rather a single, continuous scene representing the player's city (or cities).

How cities are built

In Green City, players can position different structures on the map by simply “dragging and dropping” them from the UI panel to the desired position on the map.

Each structure its own associated costs and characteristics. This feature is in line with other city building games. However, a notable difference is the absence of a grid system for positioning structures. We believe that this decision will set our game apart from others in the genre and grant players more creative freedom by allowing them to place structures wherever they desire. (Of course it won’t be possible to put structures on top of one another).

Players can also pan around the city map (by holding what button?).

Missions and Progression

To guide players, especially during the initial stages of the game, Green City will feature missions that serve both as tutorials and as a means to reward players for making eco-friendly choices and lowering CO2 emissions. These missions will introduce players to the game's mechanics and encourage them to make sustainable decisions in their city's development.

Examples of early missions include:

Upon completing each mission, players will receive money as a reward. This incentive not only motivates players to continue progressing through the game but also reinforces the importance of sustainable city development and eco-friendly decision-making.

Positioning Strategies

As an additional level design characteristic in Green City, the position of structures on the map can influence the amount of revenue they generate, whether it's money, inhabitants, or energy. This feature encourages strategic planning and thoughtful placement of structures, adding depth and complexity to the gameplay experience.

A similar positioning strategy mechanic is the one in Civilization VI
